Purple turnips can have a mild, slightly sweet taste. The younger and smaller they are, the better they will taste. Turnips are a good source of vitamin C, potassium and iron, and are low in calories.


Purple top turnip are so versatile, you can either add them raw to salads, mix them with cherry tomatoes and olives to make a delicious appetizer. You can also mix them in stews, along with vegetables like potatoes and carrots.

Before cooking or serving turnip, make sure you clean it thoroughly by scrubbing the skin with a vegetable brush under running water. It has a great crunch and texture, so make sure not to overcook.
