Description
If you are in to healthy eating, onions, including red salad onions deserve a place in your pantry. Onions are very low in calories (like most veggies), and provide antioxidants to promote good health. Red onions are milder, and add a little bit of colour to dishes. A red onion is crisp and a little bit sweet, with a slightly bitter aftertaste. It isn’t as pungent as a yellow onion and if wished can be used for cooking with but is most often used fresh in salads. If you are a fan of onions and use these frequently you might find it useful to peel several at once keeping the root end intact. Store in a ziplock bag in the fridge. Slice off your onion as needed.
