The red banana is prepared the same way as a ‘normal’ yellow banana, simply peel back the red skin and tuck in or use them as an alternative in recipes replacing yellow bananas. To prevent them from browning brush them in lemon juice, if not being consumed straight away. Best stored at room temperature. Red bananas are particularly rich in vitamin B6, C and potassium. They also provide 9% of the recommended daily intake (RDI), 28% of the RDI for vitamin B6, 9% of the RDI for vitamin c and 8% of the RDI for magnesium. Not only that but it is said to help lower blood pressure, support eye health, rich in antioxidants and aid digestion.
